Scallions (Green Onions)

About Me: Scallions are young onions that are considered “bulbless.” Also called green onions, they can range from sweet to spicy, but generally their flavour is milder than a full-grown onion. These guys make great toppings. On Salads, tacos, nachos, soup, stew, chili, they go on just about anything! We grow both green and red varieties.

To store: Scallions should be stored unwashed and wrapped loosely in a mesh bag, then a reused plastic bag. Put them in the refrigerator where they will keep for about a week. To keep scallions longer, chop off about three-quarters of the tender green tips and stand the scallions in an inch of water in a tall container covered loosely with a plastic bag, refreshing the water every 3 days.
